Chaotic scenes erupted after the funeral of 23 year old Brandon Ledwidge in Finglas, Dublin yesterday.
Ledwidge, who had been due before the courts on charges related to the possession of cocaine and diamorphine with suspected intent to supply was shot dead at his home on Barry Drive, Finglas North on the 18th of November last.
It was reported that the eulogy for the young man contained details of how he was a ‘party animal’ who would have ‘a big fat joint in his mouth and a hammer in his pocket’.

The funeral procession which left St. Canice’s church was flanked by young men on motorbikes some of whom revved their engines. There was also a sustained Garda presence in the area.

After violence erupted at the funeral reception at a local pub where two men were sent to hospital with suspected knife and hammer attack injuries.
The incident led to Quarry Road in Cabra being sealed off as emergency services were called to the scene.
A Garda spokesperson said police are “investigating an alleged incident of assault that occurred in the Dublin 7 area this evening Wednesday 29th November 2023 at approximately 8pm.”
“Two males are currently receiving medical attention at the Mater Hospital with serious injuries.”
“Investigations ongoing. No further information at this time.” it said.
