Gript Media can confirm that broadcaster Niall Boylan will contest the European Parliament elections on behalf of the Independent Ireland Party. His candidacy was registered in Dublin over the weekend.
He joins a field of confirmed candidates, including former RTÉ Midlands correspondent Ciaran Mullooly who announced he would run for the EU elections for Independent Ireland for the Midlands Northwest constituency earlier this month.
Other candidates who have registered for the European elections in June include Peadar Tóibín of Aontú, Clare Daly of Independents 4 Change, Dr Ummi Al-Qadri, the Islamic scholar who will run as an Independent candidate in Dublin, and Bríd Smith of People Before Profit. A wide range of independent candidates are running, including solicitor and campaigner Malachy Steenson and Stephen O’Rourke in Dublin.
Fledgling Party Independent Ireland, founded by TDs Michael Collins and Richard O’Donoghue last November, has described itself as “the Party of common sense” and “the clear choice for real change.”
