Police in Munich say they shot a “suspicious person” amid a situation this morning where there was allegedly an active shooter outside the Israeli consulate in the region.
Munich police said they launched a “major operation” in the area of Briennerstrasse and Karolinenplatz and dispatched “numerous emergency personnel on site”.
Police officers dispatched to the scene of the incident say they “saw a person who appeared to be carrying a firearm” and that officers “used their service weapons and the person was hit and injured”.
“There are currently no reports of any other injuries.” the Munich Police said.
A helicopter unit was dispatched with police asking the public to avoid the area in order not to hinder their operation.

In reaction to news of the alleged firing of a weapon outside the consulate, German left-wing politician Martina Renner highlighted that the alleged incident took place on the 52nd anniversary of the Munich Olympics massacre on September 5, 1972.
On that date an attack carried out by Palestinian terror group Black September killed 12 people, 11 of which were Israeli Olympic team members.
