A school bus with over 20 children on board was involved in a crash while on route this morning.
This is reportedly the latest in a number of crashes at the same Wexford junction which journalist Pádraig Byrne called “notorious”.
The National Ambulance Service, An Garda Síochána, and the Fire Service rushed to the scene of the crash although no serious injuries have been reported with none involved requiring hospitalisation.
The accident involved the school bus and a car and took place at 8.30 a.m. this morning on the main N25 road at Larkin’s Cross causing major rush hour traffic disruption.
It was reported that there has been a lack of action to address local concerns regarding the safety of the junction and that calls for a roundabout to be built have not been acted upon.
Director of Services at Wexford County Council Eamonn Hore reportedly said that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) had “no intention” of erecting a roundabout on the controversial area of road.
The N25, which runs between Wexford and Cork, has previously been called ‘Ireland’s most dangerous road’ with the Irish Mirror reporting that 22 fatal crashes have occurred since 2017.
