At least three children have suffered apparent stab wounds in the incident near the central Dublin school.
A major emergency services operation is underway following the serious incident near a school in at Parnell Square East. The attack occurred shortly after 1pm outside Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire on Dublin’s Northside as children were coming out of the school at around 1.40pm.
It has now been reported that a girl and a woman were seriously injured in the suspected stabbing, while three other people, including two other children, were injured.
All five injured people have been taken to different hospitals across Dublin.

A man – understood to be a suspect – is being treated in hospital for his injuries and Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.
Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene.
All lanes are currently closed as emergency services deal with a serious incident, and people are advised to avoid the area. Diversions are in place.
A garda spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána are currently at the scene of a serious incident on Parnell Square East and are being assisted other emergency services,”
“At this early stage, An Garda Síochána is not in a position to confirm any further details.”
Gardai are releasing no further information at present.
