A Garda investigation has been launched after the body of a man in his 80s was discovered in a shed in County Galway.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed the incident saying, “Gardaí attended following the discovery of the body of a male (aged in his 80s) at a residential location in Spiddal, Co. Galway, on Monday 27th January 2025.
“The body of the man was removed to University Hospital Galway for post-mortem examination. A file will now be prepared for the Coroner.”
It is understood that the man’s passing was the result of a tragic accident where foul play is not suspected.
The area of Spiddal was badly effected by Storm Eowyn with many locals left without power for days amid ongoing backlogs of reconnections.
As Gript previously reported, gusts registering as high as 183km/h were recorded on the west coast, as the storm left more than 715,000 without power and set new records for wind speeds.
