A People Before Profit TD has claimed that his “enemies” in the “establishment” are “wealthy, powerful and hateful people” who are trying to “silence” him and “take him out” at the upcoming general election.
In a video posted to social media, Dublin South-West TD Paul Murphy appealed to the public for support. He said that during his 10 years as a TD, he had been “a voice for working class people” in his constituency, and had made “many friends.”
The establishment and their far-right friends are using every trick in the book to try to silence me.

However, he added: “But [I’ve also made] many enemies in the establishment: wealthy, powerful and hateful people who are spreading lies and misinformation to try to silence me and take me out at the next election.”
“We can’t let them win,” Murphy continued, adding that in order to “fight back”, he would need the public’s support to get out his message of “hope, resistance and people power.”
This help, he said, could take the form of putting up posters, leafleting, canvassing, or organising a meeting.
The video featured the tagline “Keep Paul In The Dáil”, and the caption read that “The establishment and their far-right friends are using every trick in the book to try to silence me. Don’t let them win.”
