Prosecutors in England and Wales are to be given more room to depart from a blanket instruction to use a trans suspect’s preferred name and pronouns in rape and serious sexual offence cases. The change was agreed by the Director of Public Prosecutions before a High Court challenge by the campaign group Sex Matters.Â
Sex Matters had called on the British DPP to stop “taking dictation from transactivists” and had initiated a judicial review of the current stance, although the court dismissed this.
