Like almost every Irish politician since time began, he sees his job as to defend the state against you, and not to defend you, against the state.
The facts are less important than leading you, the reader, towards the correct conclusion.
The Irish Times Editorial Board has chosen to stand over this story. It should be abundantly clear from the footage released here that there are now genuine and obvious questions to be asked about the veracity of that story.
