Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical agency, has released its latest Population update which confirms that all of the population growth in the bloc is being driven by immigration, with 2.3 million migrants being added in 2024 alone.
Since 2012, every year the EU has recorded more deaths than births annually, but that natural population decline in an ageing continent is being offset by immigration – and a record population of 450.4 million people was recorded in 2024.
