Kirk Loco, who describes himself as a “citizen journalist”, has been acquitted in relation to a charge under Section 4 of the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act 2020 after a judge ruled the State had not proved its case.
The charge related to a tweet posted on X about a Palestinian asylum seeker in which it was alleged that he behaved inappropriately towards a 14-year-old girl on a bus to Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow. The tweet, which Mr Loco admitted posting, accused the man of exposing himself to the girl and was worded in terms that the prosecution said amounted to calling him “a paedophile.”
