Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary, who is responsible for pensions, has admitted that he has not “given it a lot of thought” regarding whether the State should support people in having larger families to combat the ageing population.
Speaking in response to questions from Gript this week, the Fianna Fáil Minister said his Government “haven’t actually” considered specific policies to assist people in having bigger families as a way of counteracting Ireland’s ageing population.
