Spending by the Child and Family Agency, Tusla, has increased dramatically in key areas, with a senior official telling the Public Accounts Committee that the agency’s combined budget for unaccompanied minors in the international protection system and Ukrainian separated children now stands at €144 million.
During a recent committee exchange, Fine Gael Deputy, James Geoghegan, stated that expenditure on unaccompanied minors had risen from €33 million in 2023 to €95 million in 2025, a figure that was not disputed by Tusla officials during the hearing.
