A Meta policy granting politicians blanket immunity from fact-checking labels while ordinary users are subject to scrutiny has been highlighted after an AontĂș councillor branded the actions taken against his personal account “outrageous.”
In an email exchange with The Journal FactCheck following a fact-check label applied to a post on his Facebook profile, Cork County Council member Cllr. Peter O’Donoghue claimed the enforcement amounted to an “attack on democracy.”
