Yesterday, the Icelandic electorate voted by almost a 6% margin to reject a proposal that their government enter into a new round of negotiations with a view to become another member of the European Union.
The No campaign was supported by a broad coalition of the anti-establishment right and the green Left. The Yes campaign had the support of the centre left and centre right although Icelandic electoral politics are quite splintered.
