According to the latest population and migration estimates from the Central Statistics Office for the year to the end of April 2026 the population of the Irish state has increased by 67,000 to 5,525,600.
That represents an increase of 1.23% which is well above the average for the EU as whole where the population of the 27 member states grew by around 0.2% in 2025.
