Last week, I wrote a response to the nonsense being pushed by the State’s National Strategy on Women through one of their approved outfits for Females with Acceptable Opinions, the NWCI, who seem to think that, with all of the pressing issues facing women at the moment in Ireland, what the government really needs to declare a war on is ‘tradwives’. It provoked an interesting discussion in the comments section.
A few respondents pointed out that some of the online ‘tradwives’ were a bit over-the-top, and perhaps also a bit cynical in that they seemed to be cashing in on an online trend. They also said that there was a difference between a studio-produced, picture-perfect ‘tradwife’ and the rest of us who take time out to be with the kids. Others said that the liberal presumption that men’s motivations were always to be treated as suspect ignored the sacrifice that dads also made when parents collectively agreed that children would fare best being raised in the family home.
