Last Summer applications for change of use for two pubs in Durrow, County Laois, appeared to have run aground in the face of local opposition and more rigorous than usual scrutiny of the proposal by the Laois county planners.
The applications had been submitted on July 2, 2025, by Marc Lennon who, along with his sister Niamh, owns Lennon’s Bar and Peadar’s Bar on Mary Street in Durrow. The proposal was for the development of 21 bedrooms and associated works for the accommodation of persons seeking international protection.
