The latest purchase orders published by the Department of Justice show that the cost of providing translators and interpreters to persons from overseas amounted to €6.7 million for 2025.
That represents an increase of €1.9 million since 2024 – a jump in costs for those within the Justice system who require translators of 41%. Which would suggest that there continues to be a significant increase in the number of persons who have dealings with the system.
