“These are good figures” said the Taoiseach yesterday of the news that 36,000 homes were completed in Ireland last year.
He’s not wrong, of course, on the face of it: The country built more homes than any expert imagined possible before the figures were released. That many of these were apartments is neither here nor there – each new home represents a roof over somebody’s head and, as prices demonstrate, there is plenty of demand.
