When you do this job for long enough, you come to realise that the Universal Law of Opinion Polls is, of course, that an opinion poll is truthful and accurate when it finds public opinion aligned with one’s own perception of the world, but fake and wrong if it produces results that disagree with the beholder.
What to make, then, of yesterday’s confounding set of figures from the Sunday Business Post and Red C, which at once found that the Government is sinking into an ever deeper mire of unpopularity (Fianna Fáil are down at 15%), and at the same time that Elon Musk’s X platform is now so widely hated that more than six in ten Irish people favour an outright ban on it over this “nudification” business?
