It would be inhuman not to have sympathy for former broadcaster Gráinne Seoige, whose failed campaign to be elected a Fianna Fáil TD last year was marred, she says, by the widespread circulation of a “deep faked” sexually explicit image of her on Whatsapp and on other messaging apps.
To be crystal clear: In an ideal world, no person would ever have to suffer such a cruel humiliation. But that does not mean that Seoige’ s evidence to the Oireachtas yesterday made even the slightest bit of sense.
