South Dublin County Council has unanimously agreed a motion calling on the Council to prioritise the processing of enforcement orders against “illegal development on unoccupied land/buildings.”
Although the unauthorised development at Chianti Park and Hillsbrook is not named in the motion that was proposed by Independent Ireland Councillor Linda de Courcy, she tabled it in support of the SDCC enforcement order against Branach Developments and Mullnassa and in support of the Brittas community and residents of the mobile homes park.
In proposing the motion, which was seconded by Paddy Costello of Labour, Councillor de Courcy thanked all the other members for their support.
“We are all aware of situations where builders seem to think they are above the Law and unfortunately have gotten away with illegal developments.
“This motion will help South Dublin County Council target what they know to be unauthorised developments and hopefully this will deter rogue developers thinking that they can flout planning laws in South Dublin. “
SDCC return to Court tomorrow seeking backing for the order to cease work at Brittas.
