“This afternoon, I visited Chianti Park in Brittas in foothills of Dublin mountains once roamed by Fiach Mag Aoidh Ó Bhroin, holding the Saxons at bay.
As reported last week, work had begun on an allegedly unauthorised site where modular homes are being hastily thrown up by Branach Developers, presumably on behalf of the McDermotts who are now the registered owners of the site and who are major players in the IPAS caper.
On Friday last, an enforcement order was issued by South Dublin County Council and work was to stop at 1.30 this afternoon. I personally observed work continuing on the site past that point.
SDCC are returning to court tomorrow. Councillors Paddy Honohan and Linda de Courcy were there today to witness the apparent disregard of the order.
This community has not even received the courtesy of a response from any other than Councillors de Courcy and Honohan.
In respect to Dublin Mid-West TDs, I asked Emer Higgins and Shane Moynihan, both government TDs, for their view on what is happening in Brittas. They did not respond.
Cllr de Courcy said today that “there are two mums with newborns living here where water and electricity have been cut off several times. I understand the recent outage has also affected over 1400 homes in the area.”
I met people with infant children and others who fear their community is under threat of literal destruction. That must not be allowed to happen. ”
