If I had €56,000 to spare, would I buy a lovely, sleek new Tesla and drive around making that futuristic, hummy-zippy noise that electric vehicles emit as they traverse the city?
Maybe, but the old cost-of-living crisis makes that unlikely, so, like most of us, I have to just continue dealing with the low-level resentfulness that comes from knowing I am paying both for EV subsidies and top dollar for petrol.
