I proposed writing this piece as a semi-sophisticated cultural comment on the new Superman movie, although it may turn into more of a jumble of vaguely interconnected thoughts that float around in my mind from time to time.
There has been much, justified in my opinion, complaining about the infiltration of woke ideas into media like movies and TV shows. This can often take the form of female characters who can – for reasons that often remain unclear – beat up men, or the act 0f making characters ethnically diverse even when they were written as English in the 1800s.
