A man in his 20s was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning following a burglary at a retail premises on Kildare Street.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:45am, when Gardaí responded to reports of a break-in. On arrival, officers encountered a suspect who fled the scene on foot, entering nearby St. Stephen’s Green park.
The man was pursued and apprehended by Gardaí within the park and arrested. He is currently detained at a Garda Station in Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Following the arrest, St. Stephen’s Green park was sealed off as Gardaí conducted a daylight search for stolen property.
At around 6 a.m., officers discovered a bag containing jewellery valued at approximately €50,000.
Investigations remain ongoing.
