A homeless Romanian man, who has previous convictions for assaulting and threatening Gardaí, appeared before the Circuit Criminal Court this morning in relation to an assault on an off-duty officer which resulted in the victim requiring three stitches.
Marius Elisei (47) who has an address at the Peter McVerry Trust, Croke Park, Dublin 3, pleaded guilty to assaulting Garda Lorcan Cowan who was on his way to go on duty at Store Street Garda Station at approximately 5pm when he came upon the accused who was drinking beer at the Heuston Station Luas stop.
