A number of Parliamentary Questions from Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín last week elicited new information on the International Protection process here which shows that whatever the good intentions of the new Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan many of the asylum metrics continue to go in the wrong direction.
Chief among those metrics is that 90% of the people who apply for asylum at Mount Street in Dublin have crossed the border from the north and therefore are effectively leaving another safe jurisdiction in which they ought to have made an application.
