Over 530,000 cigarettes and tobacco products were discovered, along with over €410,000 in cash, by gardaí and Revenue in a joint-agency search operation in Co. Donegal.
Gardaí and Revenue Customs Service carried out the operation yesterday morning at a residence in Burnfoot, Co. Donegal.
During the course of the search operation and in follow-up searches by Revenue Customs Service today, over 530,000 cigarettes and tobacco products were discovered, as well as cash valued in excess of €410,000, which was found in both Euro and Sterling currencies.
All items were seized by Revenue Customs Service along with two vehicles, a cash counting machine, financial documentation and mobile phones.
Gardaí are investigating suspected money laundering offences contrary to the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act, 2010.
A release from An Garda Síochána states that no arrests have been made at this time.
Investigations are ongoing.
