GardaĆ in Ballymun have arrested a man in his 30s following an armed robbery at a retail premises in the Ballymun area of Dublin on Sunday.
The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 pm when a man entered a store on Marewood Crescent, brandishing a knife and threatening staff before fleeing on foot with stolen property.
In a follow-up operation, uniformed and armed GardaĆ from Ballymun Station, supported by the Armed Support Unit (ASU), apprehended the suspect in the Sandyhill Gardens area. Less-than-lethal force options were deployed during the arrest, including the possible use of 40mm direct impact munitions, a Taser, or OC spray.
The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in the Dublin Region in connection with this robbery and a series of similar incidents in recent days.
Garda investigations are ongoing. Authorities have also confirmed that this incident is unrelated to a separate event in Stoneybatter earlier in the afternoon.
