An investigation has been launched after a man in his 40s was fatally stabbed in an incident in rural Kerry.
Gardaí were alerted to an alleged assault at 12:30am regarding the incident which took place in the Knockanure village area.
It is understood that the incident took place outside a pub.
A man in his 30s has been arrested and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the Kerry.
Gardaí say a senior investigating officer has been appointed to the case and are appealing for witnesses
Any road users who were travelling in the vicinity of Knockanure village between 12:00am and 1:00am and may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make this available.
