We often hear that Fine Gael is the party of law and order, and whether that is the case or not, they’ve chosen to entrust the safeguarding of that title to Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, who earlier this week reminded us that gang violence is “completely unacceptable” and “not something we will tolerate on our streets”.
It occurred to me as I heard those words that the only law Minister McEntee is likely to be remembered for is what I’ll call ‘McEntee’s Law’: That which the Minister claims is most unacceptable and least to be tolerated will abound.
