The Care and Family referendums were defeated on Friday due to government “arrogance” and not the “far-right”, a Fine Gael TD has insisted.
In an exclusive interview with Gript on Monday, former Justice Minister and Fine Gael veteran Charlie Flanagan – who supported a ‘Yes/Yes’ vote himself – reacted to a clip of journalist Alisson O’Connor, who claimed that “someone very senior in Fine Gael” had told her the referendum was rejected in some working class areas due to the influence of “far-right elements.”
