Since 2016 in Ireland, the central statistics office has recorded a grand total of 282 murders. When you break those down by gender, the numbers are startling: 220 men have been murdered in Ireland in that timeframe, as against 72 women.
As in all societies in recorded history, the vast majority of murders are carried out by men. And the vast majority of the victims are also men.
