Ireland likely has enough priests to minister to those who are still practising Catholics, but not for the large number of cultural Catholics who want to avail of the sacraments in the church and the rite of Burial and the funeral mass, a well known Catholic priest has said.
Fr Brendan Kilcoyne, who helped set up Immaculata Productions, and hosts the podcast ‘The Brendan Option’, is a parish priest in the diocese of Tuam. After serving the people of Athenry for the last decade, he is now based in County Mayo, where he serves two parishes.
