It is not, of course, going to happen. Bringing down the political institutions in Northern Ireland has no cost for whichever side does it – whether it was Sinn Fein for three years or so over (officially) the cash for ash scandal or (unofficially, but in reality) the Irish language act, or whether it’s the DUP over (officially) Brexit or (unofficially, but in reality) not wishing to be seen to serve under a Sinn Fein first minister.
