An assassination attempt on Argentina’s vice-president has sent shockwaves through the country.
Cristina Fernández de Kirchner was greeting supporters outside her home in Buenos Aires when a man in the crowd pointed a handgun straight at her face.

However, the gunman’s weapon jammed as he aimed at Ms Fernandez de Kirchner at point blank range.
The man, a 35-year-old Brazilian, was immediately arrested.
“A man pointed a firearm at her head and pulled the trigger. Cristina is still alive because, for some reason yet to be confirmed, the gun … did not fire,” President Alberto Fernandez later in a televised address.
He told reporters that the gun had been loaded with five bullets.
Local media said that a man named as Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel was arrested and charged.
