A video of former US President George W. Bush accidentally calling the invasion of Iraq ‘wholly unjustified and brutal’ while speaking about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has gone viral with millions of views racked up within hours.
Bush made the what some are describing as a “Freudian slip” in a speech at his presidential center in Dallas, where he spoke about the importance of fair elections.
‘The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia, and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq,’ Bush said, before shaking his head and correcting himself. ‘I mean, of Ukraine.’
He then said what sounded like the words, ‘Iraq too, anyway,’ to laughter from the crowd.
‘I’m 75,’ Bush quickly added.
Speaking in Dallas this afternoon, former President George. W Bush made a significant verbal slip-up while discussing the war in Ukraine.
He tried referencing what he described as the “wholly unjustified and brutal invasion” — but said Iraq, instead of Ukraine. pic.twitter.com/tw0VNJzKmE
