We received a confident assessment from RTÉ’s political correspondent Mícheál Lehane earlier this week that the Regional Independent Group is increasingly likely to make up part of the incoming Government, alongside old faithfuls Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil. Which begs the question some have emailed in to Gript with: Who are the Regional Independents?
It’s a group made up of nine independent TDs from constituencies up and down the country: Lead spokesperson Michael Lowry (Tipperary North); Seán Canney (Galway East); Noel Grealish (Galway West); Marian Harkin (Sligo-Leitrim); Barry Heneghan (Dublin Bay North); Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran (Longford-Westmeath); Verona Murphy (Wexford); Carol Nolan (Laois-Offaly); and Gillian Toole (Meath East).
