Calls have been made for an Afghan boat migrant, who was found guilty of raping a 12-year-old girl, to be deported from the UK, where he was staying in state-provided accommodation for asylum claimants.
Ahmad Mulakhil, (23) who had reached the UK four months before raping the child in July last year, had spotted her on some swings in a park before abducting and sexually assaulting her in a cul-de-sac in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
He was charged with two counts of raping the child, whom he admitted to orally raping.
Another Afghan asylum seeker, who reached the UK in late December 2024, Mohammad Kabir (24) was charged with attempting to take the same child, committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence, and intentional strangulation; he was cleared of all charges.
Case Background.
Warwickshire Crown Court heard how on the day in question, Mulakhil came across the girl in a local park area where she’d been playing on the 22nd of July last year, six weeks after he had been moved to Nuneaton from another facility in Kent.
A short time later, Mulakhil spoke to the child about her age and told her he didn’t believe that she was an adult because she was ‘small’.
After his arrest, he told investigating officers, “She told my friend she’s 19, but I didn’t ask her.”
He then took her to a patch of grass nearby and raped her, at times videoing himself and the child.
The court heard how, after the attack, he took her to a local shop before she spotted a chance to run away and report what had happened. “After he strangled me, I ran off,” the victim told the jury via videolink.
The child also testified that she thought she was going to die because she “couldn’t breathe”.
She said that Mulakhil was “laughing” at her as she pleaded with him to stop,
“I was saying, get off me. He didn’t say anything, he just carried on,” she said.
Police say, “This sparked an urgent and major investigation, with specialist detectives swiftly identifying Mulakhil and bringing him into custody.:
He was convicted of two counts of rape of a female child under 13, abducting a child, two counts of sexual assault and a count of taking indecent photos of a child.
He was found not guilty of one count of rape of a child under 13.
A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said, “Every victim of sexual assault is afforded automatic lifelong anonymity.
“This incident has been deeply traumatic for the young girl concerned, and we ask that her privacy is respected.”
He is to be sentenced at a later date.
Calls have been made for Mulakhil to be removed from the UK, with MP Rupert Lowe saying, “The Afghan small boat migrant found guilty of rape, abduction, sexual assault and taking an indecent video of a 12-year-old girl shouldn’t be deported. He should receive the death penalty.”
