US President Donald Trump stated yesterday that he intends to designate the far-left, militant Antifa (‘anti-fascist’) network as a “major terrorist organisation,” a move that brings with it many questions and many potential implications not just in the US, but in Ireland, too.
“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” President Trump posted on Truth Social, adding that he will be “strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices”.
