Here in Ireland, we’ve often heard the media describe the MAGA movement in the United States as a “cult” that turns their leader into a kind of flawless, messianic Godking who can do no wrong. And this, we’re told, is what makes Trump supporters so delusional and obsessive. The claim is that Republicans just mindlessly and slavishly praise Trump no matter what, and that they are essentially disciples and acolytes of a weird religion.
So imagine if you were in America, and you turned on a Rightwing media outlet like Fox News, and you heard a commentator say the following:
