To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the Government has decided to take a “lessons learned” approach to Storm Éowyn and the response to it, rather than engage in a ‘finger-pointing exercise’ or a ‘blame game,’ as the alternative is often phrased.
As a result, the recently-published review of the storm is a masterclass in putting a positive spin on an event that in many ways was disastrous, for both the authorities and for the public.
