Is it the case that if we “leave it in the ground” and just refuse to drill, we will no longer need oil or gas? The events of the past week should bring us to a clearer understanding of the answer to that question.
We’ve been told turn away from oil and gas exploration by practically the entirety of the Irish political and media class over the past decade. It only took a war in the Middle East, and a pivotal player in that war to restrict oil flows through a crucial transport chokepoint, to completely demolish that extremely delusional NIMBY-ist notion.
