There have been mixed reactions online after a one bedroom, one bathroom studio in Cork City was advertised on Daft.ie for a whopping €175,000.
The property, which is situated just 9 minutes walk or 4 minute’s drive from the Grand Parade, is described by sellers as “a contender for one of Ireland’s smallest homes.”
“Originally built in the 1900’s, this beautiful bright, tranquil space was renovated in 2019 to an exceptionally high standard,” reads the Daft.ie post.
The long, strip-like home, according to sellers, is ideal for those who enjoy “a minimalist lifestyle.”

Author Dr. Fergal Lenehan reacted to the property’s price on Twitter.
“One bedroom with an outside door for those who enjoy a “minimalist lifestyle” (?) for €175,000 in Cork. Also called a “studio house”, apparently,” he wrote.
One user, however, replied that he “quite liked this little house,” adding that the price was fairly normal for a one bedroom apartment for sale in Cork city.

Journalist Michael O’Regan also weighed in.
“Appalling! What an abject failure on the part of successive governments,” he said.
“Patriots like Sean Lemass, Donogh O’Malley and others built up a broken state in tougher times. We never had more ministers and advisers. Jobs for the boys/girls priority for some.”

“From the governing parties,” replied another.

Some said they were “getting claustrophobic just looking at it,” while others said “Just half the price and it would be perfect!”

I agree, actually. Just half the price now and it'd be perfect! 😊
