A man who stands accused of stabbing 3 people in area of Stoneybatter, Dublin, on the 9th of February 2025 will require another psychiatric report to be compiled in respect of him, the Central Criminal Court has heard.
Gabrial Fereira Motta Valladares (29) who is from Brazil, is charged with two counts of assault causing harm along with possession of a box-cutting knife and possession of scissors under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act.
He is accused of assaulting a man on Oxmantown Road in Dublin 7, and assaulting another man on nearby Niall Street.
Valladeres is also accused of having a pair of scissors which had a blade or was sharply pointed on Manor Place.
He is also charged with having a box cutter on Murtagh Road on the same date which had a sharp point.
Although a psychiatric report, which found that the accused is “fit” was previously compiled at District Court level, defending counsel for the accused, Keith Spencer BL, argued that this report was not “retrospective” and did not speak to the fitness of the accused on the day of the alleged incident.
Mr. Justice Paul McDermott extended legal aid to cover a new report which is to be supplied to the defence and made ready for the next court date on the 8th of October next where he defence is to indicate whether fitness to plead is to be part of their case.
