Right wing parties have made significant gains across Europe as results emerge from the European elections. Here are some results so far based on live counts.
The European Parliament has released its last hemicycle projection of the night, as the dust continues to settle from the EU election.
The biggest winners have been the center-right EPP and the far right, which significantly gained seats.

France: Rassemblement National, RN
The French nationalist party, National Rally, which is led by Marine Le Pen took over 31.4% of the votes. The party has gained 12 seats bringing the total number to 30. The results saw President Emmanuel Macron dissolving the national parliament to bring about snap elections.
Macron is the first incumbent French president to not hold a majority since 1997.
Speaking after the elections results Le Pen said, “We are ready to exercise power if the French have confidence in us in these future legislative elections, we are ready to heal the country, ready to defend the interests of the French, ready to put an end to this mass immigration, ready to make power purchasing by the French is a priority, ready to begin the reindustrialisation of the country, in short we are ready to restore the country, ready to relaunch France”.
“We are ready to govern France,” she said.

Also in France Coalition La France fière or Proud France Coalition (Reconquête!,National Center for Independents and Peasants) gained 5.47% of the vote.
Italy: Fratelli d’Italia, FdI
In Italy Georgia Meloni’s Fratelli d’Italia scored 28,77% of the votes according to an exit poll released by the Italian RAI.
Taking to X, Meloni who became Italy’s first female president on promises of tackling illegal immigration into the country as well as a focus on traditional values such as family, nationalism, and faith said “Fratelli d’Italia confirms itself as the leading Italian party, surpassing the result of the last political elections.”

Spain VOX
In Spain right wing party Vox took 9.62% of votes gaining two seats bringing its current total to 6.
Party president Santiago Abascal called on Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez “to do as in France and Belgium and dissolve the Cortes and call the Spaniards to the polls.”

Germany: Alternative for Deutschland, AfD
In Germany Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) won 15.9% of the votes and gained 6 seats bringing the total number to 15.
The conservative alliance of the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union took 30.2% of the votes bringing its total number of seats to 29. AfD leader Alice Weidel said “There is now only one task left for Scholz: to clear the way for new elections – instead of ruling against a large majority of the population for another year!”

The Netherlands: Partij voor de Vrijheid, PVV
In the Netherlands Geert Wilders’ PVV party (Party for Freedom) took 17.70% of votes gaining 6 seats which brings the total number to 6.
Wilders said on X, ”The Greens and Liberals are the big losers, they will lose many seats in the European Parliament. On the other hand, the PVV is winning big, just like our friends in France, Belgium, Austria, Portugal and many other countries. It was a very beautiful election day!”

Belgium: N-VA and Vlaams Belang
In Belgium the right-wing New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) led by Bart De Wever was the biggest winner with 13.37% of the vote leaving the party with 3 seats.

The party says it “promotes a modern, forward-looking and democratic form of Flemish nationalism. The N-VA defends the political, social, economic and cultural interests of the 6.5 million people in Flanders by developing sound policies, taking parliamentary initiatives, carrying out in-depth research, taking actions tailored to the media, and carrying out political campaigns.”
Ultra right party Vlaams Belang won 13.86% of the votes also leaving it with 3 seats.
VB, which is a separatist party, says it “wants a fair and strict immigration policy: Flemish people have the right to protect their own language and culture.”

Austria: Die Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs, FPÖ
In Austria Freedom Party (Die Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs – FPÖ) took 25,70% of the votes giving it a total of 6 seats and amounting to a gain of 3 seats.
Outlining its “Austria first” approach the party says, “The freedom, security, peace and welfare of Austria and its people are the guidelines and the benchmarks for our actions as a social, meritocratic and patriotic Austrian political force.”
“Our roots in a rich history and in our traditions are inextricably linked with the responsibility that this creates to play an active role in shaping the future for the coming generations.”
Tweeting in response to its success the party said, “Thank you Austria! Today we made history together.

Portugal: Chega
In Portugal the Chega! or Enough! Party took 9.79% of the vote giving it 2 seats.
The party’s political manifesto says it sees Portugal as a “nation understood as a community of blood, land, goods and destiny, and bringing together men who, among themselves, have historical, cultural and linguistic ties. But a nation open to the world, to competition and to the future, never a nation fearfully closed in on itself.”
The party, which was founded 5 years ago by lawyer and sports commentator André Ventura, took to X to say, “Thank you Portugal. We won’t stop fighting for you!

Elsewhere, the right in the European Parliament was bolstered by strong performances across the former eastern bloc, including in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Czechia.
