A man has been arrested in Santry, Dublin, as part of ongoing investigations by the Gardaí into suspicious approaches to children and an alleged assault in the Dublin 3 area.
The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested after a property was searched in Santry earlier this morning by members from the Divisional Protective Services Unit, DMR North.
The man is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region. Gardaí say their investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí said at the end of February that they were investigating reports of suspicious approaches to children in a north Dublin suburb, with incidents alleged to have taken place on the afternoon of Sunday 15th February. The incidents were alleged to have involved three children, one of which was more serious.
The force said they were speaking to the children involved and their families to establish the circumstances in relation to the alleged approaches, while a local school informed parents that it was leasing with the Gardaí.
