Despite America’s stated war aims in Iran shifting by the hour, regime change has remained in the confused mix since US President Donald Trump launched Operation ‘Epic Fury’ 12 days ago. Whatever else about the likelihood of regime change (tl;dr: it’s unlikely in the extreme), central to its success would be a convincing successor or transitional leader.
As my name, appearance and south Dublin drawl readily give away, I am not Iranian, but I don’t think I have to be to be disappointed on their behalf that the main personage presenting himself for such a role is Reza Pahlavi, eldest son of the “last Shah of Iran”, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
